The touristical products result from combining material goods and offered services that, valuing the elements of the touristic patrimony and of the general and touristical infrastructure, the advantages of the institutionalized cadre, aim at the satisfaction of some touristical and general motivations of the consumers of tourism.

In the case of tourism, the motivation or the reasons of the travel correspond, essentially, to the specific needs, impulses, intentions, valences and tendencies, with a personal character, influenced by a multitude of factors, among which we can find the aspects of the environment, the attitude towards these ones and towards the proper person, the conscious scope as a pragmatic response to needs through travel.

The levels of Maslov's human motivational pyramid can be found in the scientific touristic research as follows

3 the social motivation (of affiliation, of adhesion, of identification with others, appurtenance to a group, cultural community) that identifies with the man's need to look for the group of excursionists, to integrate in the group;

3 the cognitive motivation (the necessity to know, to understand, to discover) that identifies with the need of getting to know the places, the traditions, the customs, the history, the culture of other centers of civilization;

3 the motivation of concordance between the knowledge, the sentiment and the action, that contributes to the integration of the personality and is to be found in the touristical actions with a co-participative character, in the need of finding the tranquility in the middle of nature, etc.

3 the motivation of repose and refreshment - the main touristical motivation - that is satisfied through a complex of conditions and means, besides the individuals' residence

3 the esthetic motivation, that expresses the people's tendency towards the aesthetic, towards art, culture and civilization, towards inedited landscapes, etc.

In some other conception, the touristical motivations are grouped in the UIOOT documents, as follows:

3 social motivations, comprising the individual's desire of initiation, of understanding the world and the events, to see and touch what the information shows, of escaping from the quotidian, as well as its desire of changing the environment, to distinguish, to contract other systems of values;

3 familial motivations, having into account the need of meeting a certain familial style of life, which gets annihilated by the quotidian, of recovering the familial expenses, the necessity of participation (especially for the youngsters);

3 personal motivations, as : the need of returning in nature, to escape from the collective, professional, religious, social, familial pressures, of cognition and realization through culture, through the contact with other civilizations, of dreaming, the need and the desire of escaping from any form of aggression and pressures, of reestablishing the nervous equilibrium, the desire of adventure, etc.

The trip thus becomes a means of satisfying the needs and desires. The coverage and the reach of some destinations, the activities that will be deployed there, become means of satisfying the conscious needs and desires.
