Ever since I can remember I have enjoyed watching movies of any genre or time. From all time classics like Monthy Python's The Meaning Of Life to the abstract modern perspective on human conscious Inception, I have watched them all. Well that's not particularly true, as there are so many films which are worth watching that no single person could ever see in a lifetime. Nevertheless I have gathered quite a collection of movies which I thoroughly enjoyed. Every time I watch a new movie I can almost fell what the characters have to face with more often than not I find myself thinking long before the movie ended how I might have done 'things' differently.

When thinking of a movie most people will surely recall the most important actors which impressed them the most. Few people know which director worked on which movie with the obvious exceptions( Speilberg, James Cameron, asf). Bearing that in mind most brilliant directors never become well known which is, in my opinion, a pity.

As Danny Boyle bluntly confessed on Top Gear, while most people in the audience certainly were familiar with his films, almost nobody actually recognised him. A director leads a life surrounded by famous people upon which exerts a major influence while he or she will almost surely remain anonymous to the majority.

Danny Boyle is widely regarded as one of the most important british directors of all times. It is recognised as truly versatile, his filmography ranging from drama( Slumdog Millionaire) , romantic comedy( A Life Less Ordinary), science fiction( Sunshine) and movies based on real events and characters(Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours). My first encounter with this 'living legend' was an unexpected surprise as I watched him on Top Gear which is a tv-show about cars.

This brings me to the reason for my choosing this particular director for this paper.

First of all he is a well-recognised English artist which is thought to have revived British filmography in the '90.

Secondly, he has actually been chosen to organise the opening festivities of the World Olympics of 2012 which are set to take place in London. This, in my opinion, is an official recognition of the remarkable creative capabilities Danny Boyle possesses.

Last but not least is the irrefutable fact that his movies are stunning, achieving their purpose with flying colours which is to impress upon the audience the feelings the characters are supposed to feel. That is why it definitely goes in my top 5 director of all time, along Copolla, Tarantino, Coen Brothers and Tim Burton.
