Michelangelo s-a nascut in Italia la data de 6 martie 1475 si dupa o viata plina de creatii artistice el si-a gasit sfarsitul la data de 18 februarie 1564. Michelangelo a fost sculptor (recunoscut pentru David, sculptura care denota pasiunea de anatomie a artistului), pictor (a pictat The Last Judgment din Capela Sixtina), arhitect si poet (s-au pastrat circa 300 din creatiile literale ale acstuia). Pictarea Capelei Sixtine a fost initiata de Michelangelo in anul 1505 din rugamintile preotului Julius 2. Ea a durat sapte ani si a fost realizata in fresca. Terminare picturii a fost intre anii 1534 si 1541 cand a fost pictat peretele cu Judecata de apoi. Aceasta fresca a fost finantata de familia de Medici cu ocazia nasteri lui Gulio deMedici. Il reprezinta pe Isus care cere binecuvantare lui Dumnezeu, cu mana stanga iar cu cea dreapta se pregateste s-ai pedepseasca pe necredinciosi. La drepta lui Isus sta fecioara Maria iar in coltul din dreapata jos este reprezentat Satana in infern gata s-ai primeasca pe cei pacatosi. Acestea au fost cateva aspecte mari ale picturii altarului.

He has left the womans hat and clothing relatively unfinished in order to focus attention on the beautifully rendered contours of her face and neck. Scena din tavanul Capelei Sixtine The Creation of Adam from the Sistine Ceiling (1508-1512) is perhaps Michelangelo s finest fusion of form and meaning. Adam s pose echoes both the shape of the ground on which he reclines and the pose of God the Father, thus giving visual form to the biblical description of Adam as made from the earth in the likeness of God.
