Theme: Man-Made Tourist Resources of The Republic of Moldova.

To start with, I want to mention that tourism is now becoming one of the most dynamic developing industries and our country isn't an exception. In in my opinion tourism more than any other industry depends on resources both natural and man-made, which represents , let's say, raw material for it, the field of activity. Man-made resources, or in other words created tourist potential represent the totality of man creations, accumulated during human's history and man's socio-demografic and economic activities, that can be involved in tourist activity. They are:

1) Historical edifices(fortifications, forts, castles, citadels, palaces)

2) Religious edifices (temples,churches,monasteries,cathedrals,mausoleums,cemeteries,pyramids,stupas)

3) Cultural and sport edifices(Agora,Forum,theatres,amphitheatres,operas,stadiums,universities,museums)

4) Economical edifices(bridges, tunnels, canals,dams and reservoirs,towers,commercial structures)

5) Monuments, statues, commemorative plaques.

6) Purely tourist edifices(fountains,agreement parks,circuses )

Not all of the mentioned above are presented in Moldova, but let's talk about those that are.

fortification, system of defense structures for protection from enemy attacks. Fortification developed along two general lines: permanent sites built in peacetime, and emplacements and obstacles hastily constructed in the field in time of war. As long as weapons remained relatively primitive, permanent fortifications predominated. The art of fortification developed in earliest times with the building of earthworks made up of layers of mud, sticks, rocks, and the like.

A bright example here in Moldova is Soroca's Fortress

In the medieval period the fortress of Soroca was part of a huge Moldovan defensive system, which comprised four fortresses on the Nistru river, two on the Danube and another three in the northern part of the country. With this "stone belt of fortresses", the country borders were well protected. Soroca fortress was built at the Nistru river crossing, on older fortifications. In 1499, on the order of Stefan cel Mare, a square wooden fortress was built, on the site of a former Genovan fortress called
