Malini village

1. Location

Malini village is situated in the southeastern part of the county of Suceava, on the ridge that separates the Stanisoara Mountains and Neamt Subcarpathians, on the Lower Suha Mare River. The village name comes from a hagberry forest, trees that are preserved today.

2. Description of the area

The commune of Malini covers a surface of approximately 20 km2 and it comprises: Malini (the seat of the commune), Suha, Poiana Marului, Valeni-Stanisoara, Iesle, with a total population of about 7.400 inhabitants.

Those who looks for the first time at a map of the village Malini, would have the feeling that it is the map of Italy because its boot shape. However, there is a connection between two places, Malini and Italy because many of the young people are working in this country.

When entering the commune, one can immediately see it is a well managed area, situated hilly picturesque surroundings. As the tourist goes further on the roads of the village, the hills' altitude increases and the Stanisoara Mountains, worth visiting tourist attractions at any time of the year, appear in the background. The highest peak is Bivolu, 1,530 meters high.

Malini village benefits from a beautiful natural setting, which made the present administration of the village to worry about capitalization and especially the tourism potential of the area. To this end, conditions were created for the sale of several plots of land, the establishment of two holiday villages and arranged for its winter season, a ski trail with a ski lift, as an invitation for skiers from neighboring towns. The ski trail and the lift are located in the south of the village, namely the village Valeni at the exit to step Stanisoara, on a slope north on the right side of Suha Mare river.

Malini is situated in a mountainous area whose climate is characterized by long cool winters, the rainy springs and summers are hot and sometimes dry, sometimes chilly, short and frequent droughts are specific. The average amount of precipitation is around 800-780mm/year. Torrential summer rains and hail can cause damage to crops.

3. Tourism potential

The clean air and abundant snow in the mountains surrounding Malini as well as the forests attract in winter dozens of tourists in search of thrills. Animal lovers have a chance, especially in summer and spring, to see in the forest the local fauna, still quite rich. Rangers and forester can give tourists details about the paths and roads where one can admire various wild animals, such as deer or, rarely, bears.
