Gabriel Garcia Marchez, born in Colombia in 1927, the author of the novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude", is one of the most popular writers of the last fifty years, the most admired and representative novelist of all the time.

The success of the author consist precisely in the manner in which he managed to reveal reality that was both cruel, fascinating and sometimes comic behind this story. His literary style, "the magic realism" led to the clash between "tradition" and "modernity" and the novel appeared in the watershed point of the transaction from fiction "modernist" in the postmodern.

The action of the book takes place in Aracataca (author's native village), in the fictional village of Macondo. This village was actually a hamlet with about 20 houses made of cane, founded by Jose Arcadio Buendia and his wife, Ursula Iguaran. He was forced to leave Guajira, a place like Aracataca because he had murdered his best friend from a sense of honor, being hunted by his ghost. Prudencio Aguilar was the one who had been killed in the battles with the roosters. When Jose Arcadio Buendia decided to leave the village, he killed all the fight roosters, thinking that, in that way, he would have brought peace to his friend. Entrepreneur, he planned the settlement of the houses so that all of them were leading to the river without people's effort and also, all of them were receiving sunlight. In Macondo nobody had more than 30 years and nobody had died yet.

Their marriage was forbidden because they were cousins . Their grandparents did not agree because they remembered and told how an uncle and an aunt of them had married and gave birth to a son with pig tail. The boy died at the age of 42 years because the butcher wanted to help him to get rid of the tail. He cut it and all the blood has been drained. About them going over their married and have three children: Arcadio, Aureliano and Amaranta. and in time adopt and others. They didn't listen to their grandparents and got married. They had three children: Arcadio, Aureliano and Amaranta. And in time, they also adopt others.

Every year the gypsies made their way there and announced their new inventions. Their clan was the talented and very skilful Miltiades. All these things dispel somehow J. A. B. who becomes careless and very passionate about the fever of the inventions. He builds an alchemy lab where he wants to put into practice its inventions even the multiplication of Ursula's gold coins which lead to a failure (charred remains).

Militades' tribe contributed to the development of the village through science and their inventions, finding its place in Buendia house in the end.

The author himself was gripped by a magical fever. He was finally the magician who he had dreamed to be. He was excited and high on drugs. He was Aureliano Buendia. He was Miltiades. He was surprised by the deep appetite he had in the world of magic and esoteric wisdom.

Pilar Terneros, one of their maids will maintain over years intimate relationships with several men from the family, fueling fears that an incestuous relationship will eventually bring a baby with a pig tail who will end the temptation. Living in concubinage with J. A. B., she gives each of them a baby with the same name as them.
